Traps upgrade costs and times
Data current as of Updated
Traps are cheap, quick to upgrade and disproportionately effective, and they are still the most neglected category on most accounts. Because they are invisible until they fire, a Giant Bomb or Seeking Air Mine at the right level decides more attacks than its price suggests, and it punishes the players who scout you, attack, and come back the next day expecting the same result.
This page lists every trap in the catalogue with the gold cost, upgrade time and Town Hall requirement of each level, and the TH Cap for each Town Hall. A new trap is placed at level 1 instantly, so the first row of most tables shows no build time; later levels take a builder like anything else. All traps are paid in gold, which means they compete with defenses for the same storage, not with your army.
Use the Town Hall filter to see only what you can build right now. The totals strip then tells you how much builder time maxing every trap at that Town Hall takes, both from scratch and from where the previous Town Hall left you. That second number is the honest one for a fresh upgrade, and it is usually small enough to fit around your defenses.
What to upgrade first
- Giant Bombs and Seeking Air Mines. Giant Bombs break Hog Rider and Miner pushes; Seeking Air Mines take out Lava Hounds, Balloons and healers. These two do the most work per level.
- New traps the day they unlock. The Tornado Trap at TH11 and the Giga Bomb at TH17 change how an attack plays out, and a level 1 version is a much smaller surprise.
- Bombs, Air Bombs and Spring Traps in idle moments. They are cheap and short, so they are good filler when a builder frees up just before you log off.
- Skeleton Traps last. They distract rather than kill, so their levels matter least.
